Dear Colleagues,

     As you are likely aware, Dr. Jessamyn Neuhaus will be leaving SUNY
Plattsburgh this coming summer.  We congratulate Dr. Neuhaus on her new
position, thank her for all that she has done for teaching excellence here,
and wish her all the best!

     With Dr. Neuhaus' departure and ahead of a national search next
academic year, we now need to turn our attention to identifying interim
leadership for the Center for Teaching Excellence

informational purposes and context only, I paste below the position
description used when Dr. Neuhaus was appointed.  I think the "about the
position" section can be helpful in describing the work of the CTE.

     Because I want to be as flexible as possible, I am leaving open at
this point the questions of whether the appointment will be full-time or
part-time, as well as what the compensation model will be (course release,
stipend, etc.).  In other words, I want to discuss those topics with
interested nominees for the appointment so as to identify the right
approach for the individual and the university.  In terms of specific
expectations for the interim role, here is a brief "including but not
limited to" list:

1) Organize the New Faculty Teaching Orientation;

2) Co-facilitate the Oswego-Plattsburgh Zoom Book Club;

3) Provide confidential individual consultations and class visits upon
request;

4) Facilitate teaching workshops and assist the Inclusive Teaching Fellows
in sharing their learning/insights/experience with other faculty;

5) Coordinate with staff from the Technology Enhanced Learning Office to
ensure continuity and cohesion with respect to conveying best practices to
faculty.

     With the above information, I issue this message to call for
nominations for Interim Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence.
Should you wish to nominate a colleague or yourself, you need only send me
an email with a brief description of interest and/or rationale for the
nomination.  I'll take it from there by speaking with all nominated
individuals to see if they are interested, moving then to conversations
intended to inform an eventual interim appointment.  I would like to
receive nominations by 5:00pm on April 19, 2024.  My goal is to appoint the
Interim Director by the end of Spring Semester.
