[Academic-Affairs] Updates from Academic Affairs

Good morning, colleagues.

A reminder about a few key dates for end-of-summer that I hope you will
mark on your calendars at some point:

*Friday, August 25th*

*Fall 2023 Matriculation Ceremony, 4:00 p.m., Memorial Hall Gymnasium.*
Faculty and staff are asked to arrive at 3:45 p.m. in the lobby.

*Opening Reception for Faculty/Staff, immediately following Matriculation:*
Time together to socialize following summer break.

*Sunday August 27th*

*Academic Department Meetings, 11:00 a.m. to noon.  A time to welcome new
students and build community, an important retention strategy.  Department
chairs and other department faculty should attend.  More info will be
provided by each dean.*

   -

   *Arts and Sciences majors:* Meet at Hawkins Pond.
   -

   *Business and Economics majors:* Meet at Au Sable Hall
   -

   *Education, Health and Human Services majors:* Meet at Sibley Hall
   -

   *Undeclared and unsure majors:* Meet at Angell College Center Lobby

*Academic Buildings Open, 1-3 p.m.:* Volunteers are needed to staff
buildings and greet new students as they check where their classes will be
located.  Steve Matthews will be reaching out.

Also, I'm trying my hand at Instagram to celebrate all of our Academic
Affairs happenings.  If you have an account, find me/us at
suny_plattsburgh_provost.  I welcome photos and other info you'd like to
see uploaded.
