[Academic-Affairs] Approval to fill new faculty lines

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to share more about the recent approval to initiate the search
process for 7 new faculty lines (including benefits) totaling $800,077.

The President’s office noted in last Friday’s message to campus that these
lines will be funded by the $53M lump sum appropriation allocated to the
SUNY system by the State of New York.

These funds have been provided to support SUNY’s enduring commitment to
excellence in teaching, innovative research and scholarship, and to
increase diversity in our faculty ranks to ensure that SUNY is fully
representative of the students and communities that we serve.

We will be recruiting for the following positions and program/departments:

   -

   Digital Media Production (Dept. of Communication Studies)
   -

   Teacher Education (Literacy and Childhood)
   -

   Special Education (Teacher Education and Leadership Dept.)
   -

   Social Work (Counseling and Human Services Dept.)
   -

   Human Development and Family Relations (HDFR Dept.)
   -

   Data Analytics (Management, Information Systems, and Analytics Dept.)
   -

   Global Supply Chain Management (Supply Chain Management and
   International Business Dept.)


As a next step, my office is working with Deans Simard, Neureuther, and
Pearson to constitute the search committees and initiate the recruitment
processes. We will be consulting closely with VP for DEI Allison Heard to
ensure that we are maximizing our ability to diversify our faculty as part
of these searches. We aim to fill these lines in time for newly hired
faculty to join our campus by the Fall 2023 semester.
