<span>It is easy to be cynical about politics in America
today. Political polarization is extreme, and partisanship in Congress
is so bad that little is done to address pressing problems while
Congress lurches from crisis to crisis. It is hard to even figure out
what is happening, because news organizations often seem to be reporting
about different worlds. It is no wonder that many Americans are
completely apathetic about politics, or even actively hostile to it.<br><br>Please
join Former Representative Bill Owens and New York State Senator Dan
Stec in a conversation about the power we have when we are part of the
political process. They are joining us to talk about why they chose to
run for elected office, what they have learned from their public service
about why it is important to be an engaged citizen, and how it is still
possible to make a difference if we choose to take advantage of the
power we have as citizens in a democracy.</span></div><div style="font-family:trebuchet ms,sans-serif" class="gmail_default"><span><br></span></div></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:trebuchet ms,sans-serif;margin-left:40px"><div style="font-family:trebuchet ms,sans-serif" class="gmail_default"><span>Light refreshments will be served.</span></div><div style="font-family:trebuchet ms,sans-serif" class="gmail_default"><span> <br></span></div></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:trebuchet ms,sans-serif;margin-left:40px"><div style="font-family:trebuchet ms,sans-serif" class="gmail_default"><span><b>Representative Bill Owens, Esq.</b>,
