AI", artificial intelligence systems that can create data such as text,
images, and audio in response to our requests, has recently exploded
into the public consciousness due to the release of services such as
ChatGPT and DALL-E. These systems, while capable of seemingly
miraculous tasks like instantly writing an essay or creating an image,
raise important questions about how we can safely use these tools due to
some of the problems we are discovering with their output.

In
this conversation with faculty members from the Department of Computer
Science, we will discuss the basics of how these systems are created,
what they are doing, and the ethical questions people are raising about
how they are programmed and how they work.

Participants will include the following:

Del Hart
