Department of Political Science invites you to a panel discussion of
the 2022 midterm election featuring four distinguished Plattsburgh State
alumni. <br></span></font></div><div class="gmail_default"><font size="2"><span style="font-family:times new roman,serif"><br></span></font></div><div class="gmail_default"><font size="2"><span style="font-family:times new roman,serif">The
2022 Midterm Election is shaping up to be very consequential, and not
only at the national level. Decisions made by elected officials at
the state and local levels often have major effects on our lives. This
panel, made up of alumni all currently serving as elected officials,
will discuss the implications of the 2022 elections for you. Topics
include some of the key issues the election may decide, the potential to
roll back some of the hyperpartisanship common to American politics
today, and answering your questions. <br></span></font></div><div class="gmail_default"><font size="2"><span style="font-family:times new roman,serif"><br></span></font></div><div class="gmail_default"><font size="2"><span style="font-family:times new roman,serif"><b>The
panel will take place on Thursday, Oct. 13, from 4:30-6:00pm in the
Alumni Conference Room, Angell College Center. Refreshments will be

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in"><font size="2"><span style="font-family:times new roman,serif">Kimberly Davis, ’06, graduated magna cum laude with a B.S in
Business (Marketing) and Philosophy with a minor in Accounting. Her public
service career began as Town Assessor in East Hampton in 2000, prior to moving
to Plattsburgh. After graduation, she served as campaign manager for a NY State
Senate race and then ran for Clinton County Treasurer in 2007, narrowly losing
that race. She won when she tried again in 2013, and has served as County
Treasurer since January 2014. She is a member of the Clinton County Democratic
Committee and represents Clinton County on the NYS Democratic Committee.
Kimberly Co-Founded North Country Women United, a political action committee
dedicated to recruiting, training, and funding Democratic women running for
local and state office in Clinton, Essex, and Franklin Counties. Kimberly also
ran for NYS Senate in 2020. <br></span></font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in"><font size="2"><span style="font-family:times new roman,serif"><br><span></span></span></font></p><font size="2">

</span></font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><font size="2">David Rodriguez DeCancio, ’93, earned his B.A. in Political
Science. The son of Cuban refugees who came to America in 1962, he embarked on
a career in public service as a NYS Assembly intern. Since graduating in 1993
David has worked for three Speakers of the NYS Assembly and Governor of New
York State. He has served in several senior positions including Deputy Director
of Communications and Information Services, Political Director of the
Democratic Assembly Campaign Committee, and is currently Senior Advisor to NYS
Assembly Speaker Carl E. Heastie. In 2021, David was the first
Latino ever elected to the Bethlehem Town Board, where he currently serves in
addition to his work for the Speaker.<span></span></font></p><font size="2">

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in"><font size="2"><span style="font-family:times new roman,serif">Christopher Rosenquest, ‘00, earned his degree in English
(Print Journalism). He moved to Plattsburgh in the early 1980’s when his father
was stationed at Plattsburgh Air Force Base, and enrolled at SUNY Plattsburgh after
graduating from Clinton Community College. After a stint on the West Coast where
he began a career in technology management and earned an MBA from the
University of Washington's Foster School of Business, he returned to
Plattsburgh in 2013. Chris Rosenquest served for 5-years on the Clinton County
Legislature before running in the 2020 Mayoral election. In a historic win, Chris
Rosenquest became the first Mayoral candidate to unseat the incumbent during the
primary. Upon winning the election, Mayor Rosenquest became the first African
American Mayor to serve the City of Plattsburgh.<span></span></span></font></p>

</span></font><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in"><font size="2"><span style="font-family:times new roman,serif">Matt Veitch, ’94, earned a B.S. in Secondary Education with
a minor in Music.<span> </span>He also earned an A.S.
in Applied Information Technology degree from Pace University in 2005. He has
served as the Saratoga County Supervisor representing the City of Saratoga
Springs since 2008 and was elected by his peers to be Chairman of the Board of
Supervisors in 2015. Matthew serves in a variety of public roles including as
Chair of the Saratoga County Capital Resource Corporation, as Vice-Chair of the
New York State Association of Counties Public Safety Committee, and as Chair of
the National Association of Counties International Economic Development Task
Force. It is also notable that both of Matt’s parents are graduates of SUNY
Plattsburgh, as well as all four of his siblings and two of his in-laws.<span> </span>The latest Veitch is currently a Junior at
Plattsburgh.</span></font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in"><font size="2"><span style="font-family:times new roman,serif"><br><span></span></span></font></p>
