--></style></head><body lang="EN-US" link="#0563C1" vlink="#954F72" style="word-wrap:break-word"><div class="WordSection1"><p class="MsoNormal">Dear Members of our College Community,</p><p class="MsoNormal">It is with sadness that we share the news that Dr. Gary Brannigan, professor emeritus of psychology, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2025 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. He was 78.</p><p class="MsoNormal">Dr. Brannigan joined our faculty as an assistant professor in psychology in September 1973. He was promoted three years later to associate professor and to full professor in September 1982. </p><p class="MsoNormal">A licenses clinical psychologist and certified school psychologist, Dr. Brannigan spent many years working with children with disabilities and their families. In July 2009, he co-authored his first book, “Reading Disabilities: Beating the Odds,” for parents, teachers and others involved in educational decision-making for children. A prolific researcher and writer, he wrote or co-authored more than a dozen more books in his 45 years at SUNY Plattsburgh, often with SUNY Plattsburgh colleague Dr. Matthew Merrens, professor emeritus of psychology.</p><p class="MsoNormal">A 50-plus-year resident of Plattsburgh, he most recently resided in Ballston Spa, N.Y., with his wife of 57 years, Linda. Dr. Brannigan retired from SUNY Plattsburgh in September 2018.</p><p class="MsoNormal">There will be no services.
