--></style></head><body lang="EN-US" link="#0563C1" vlink="#954F72" style="word-wrap:break-word"><div class="WordSection1"><p class="MsoNormal">Dear Members of Our Campus Community,</p><p class="MsoNormal">We have learned of the passing of Ronald Hobson, former assistant dean in the School of Business and Economics and later technical assistant and lecturer in the former Center for Lifelong Learning, Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024, at his Plattsburgh home. He was 91.</p><p class="MsoNormal">Mr. Hobson joined the faculty as an instructor in business and economics September 1976. Promoted to lecturer in 1982, he was named assistant dean March 1987. He retired from the faculty in 1995, returning in July that year to serve as senior staff assistant for SBE and the Center for Lifelong Learning. He served as the center’s interim director from August 1995 through December 1996 and then as a technical assistant, adjunct lecturer and instructor there from January 1997 through December 1998.</p><p class="MsoNormal">He earned his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering at Columbia University and an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. While he worked in business at various companies throughout his career, teaching was his passion and moved his family, including Ann, his wife of 70 years, from New Jersey to Mooers in 1975.</p><p class="MsoNormal">Mr. Hobson served as a consultant for the International Joint Venture Consultants, conducting various business strategy workshops in Russia. He also traveled to Budapest, Hungary, where he trained, taught and advised students, faculty and businesses in total quality management.</p><p class="MsoNormal">A memorial service will be celebrated Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court St., Plattsburgh, 518-563-1760.
